A Little Vintage

Today we meandered down the streets of old Folsom, and I came across some AMAZING vintage stores, "Gracefully Vintage" and "Mélange." Guys, after looking around the creative juices started flowing. Take a peek:

Now THESE are the kinds of vintage stores I love. There were so many things to look at! Isn't that white mirror above gorgeous? After the vintage stores we stopped at Snook's for a little salted caramel, and later in a vintage jewelry store I found a Kate Middleton knock-off ring with real diamonds and a sapphire, and I think I really sort of maybe kind of LOVED it. I adore California!

Fall Fashion

I've been putting together a list of things I'm lusting after for the Fall. What think we?

Prada Lace-Up Suede Ankle Boot. Yes, just a wee bit out of my price range. I want some knock-offs.

Michael Kors Large Gold Runway Watch. I decided that this will be my graduation gift to myself in December. It's so classic.

Hunter Original Tall Rain Boots. I love the patent graphite gray, but I might want them in green too. So many options!

There it is, folks. What I'll be lusting after come Fall, when I should be paying attention in my Personal Finance class.

Bijou Bijou!

I'm so excited! I just found out that this is coming to Provo again:

The Bijou Market is my favorite thing ever. It's a local market where crafters can come and sell their products. I bought the cutest necklace from one of their vendors, Ritzy Misfit, last year.

So cute, yeah? Don't worry, Ali Fedotowsky, last year's Bachelorette, has one too.

Yep, just being busy with school. And maybe watching "The Princess Diaries," 1 and 2. A couple of times. And, because I've been working hard, I rewarded myself. :) They're much cuter in person.

I'm in Love, I'm in Love, and I Don't Care Who Knows It!

Well, if you read my post below, you know that the title of this blog has nothing to do with anyone of the male persuasion. Instead, it has to do with my new semester here at BYU! I'm taking five classes, and for the first time ever, I love every single one of them. I wake up each morning excited to go up to campus and learn. I'm taking two editing classes, which is leading to my dream of being a magazine editor someday. Here's a list of what I'll be learning for the next four months:

ELANG 410 Genre and Substantive Editing: In this class we're working with the editors of BYU Magazine to learn the magazine-making process, and I love it. In the Spring they're offering student editing internships, which would be a dream for me. So I'm working hard to get it.

ELANG 350 Basic Editing Skills: Pretty self-explanatory. Lots of grammar, lots of red pencil marks. And I love it.

English 396 Studies in Women's Literature: For this class we're reading works by African, Indian, Afghan, and European women in the modern and postmodern eras. A book a week is tough, but I absolutely adore this class. I was worried that it would be all about man-bashing, but it isn't. My professor is able to seamlessly blend our religion and beliefs with "womanist" ideas. I love it.

Communications 381 International Media Systems: My last class for my Communications minor! We're learning about how the media exists in different cultures. I didn't realize how much of an influence the United States has on what people around the world watch on TV.

English 495 Rhetoric and Legal Argumentation: This is my Senior capstone class. When I was little I wanted to be a lawyer. That's not my dream anymore, but I'm taking this class because I want to learn how my English major fits into the law. And I love it!

So that's what's going on this semester. The social aspect of my life can probably be improved just a little bit, but I'm finally where I want to be in the academic part.

Favorite thing about this week: it's over

Favorite thing about today: Good hair. No, GREAT hair.

Saying "like a G6" at the end of every sentence.

Favorite new song: Phoenix's 1901. So what, I'm behind the times.

My Halloween costume options. Endless!

Favorite happy thought: I'm going to California in a month.

Favorite not-so-happy thought: I have to plan my future. I think I'm going to get in my car the day I graduate and just drive. East? South? Want to come?

Happiest time of my Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays: English 451 and ELANG 325. For obvious reasons which will only remain obvious to me.

Favorite new discovery: I can have curly hair in Utah. And I can rock it.

Worst new discovery: I can't function on 4 hours of sleep each night. Also, I have the worst case of senioritis ever.

Discovery of the week: "The 6th Sense" is not scary. I've been lied to for so long.

Sweater of the week: Stripey gray cardigan.

Food of the week: Frosted Mini Wheats. I'm such a college student.

Happy song: "Speak Now" by Taylor Swift. Her new CD comes out in THREE DAYS!!!

Goal of the week: Don't get discouraged with people. Some of them just aren't worth my time.

It's me, Alexa. I have a favor to ask you. I was wondering if, just maybe, you could give me more than 24 hours in a day, just this week and next, so that I stop going like this...

Baby Blue Eyes

This last week I went with my roommate Ashley to the Hanson concert. Remember them (Mmbop, long hair, circa third grade)? Anyway, it was really good! They're all grown up now, and their songs are great, their hair is amazing (much better than 13 years ago), and it was fun! But I really liked the band that opened for them, A Rocket to the Moon. Because I'm on this music kick right now, here are a couple of their songs, my personal favorite being the one called "Baby Blue Eyes." Enjoy!
