Finally! London!

Well, after some long, boring, and freezing flights, I've arrived in London. And I love it! It's still as beautiful, and maybe even more so, as it was the last time I was here. The BYU London Centre is gorgeous, and so is the neighborhood. We got to take a walk around it today and do some exploring. I can't wait to go to the Portobello Road Market and some of the vintage clothing stores.

Tonight a few of us decided to be brave and we took the tube to Picadilly Circus. It was so crowded! Probably because it's a Saturday night. I forgot about how many cultures and types of people London has. I love it! It just makes it so interesting. I'm hoping I can take advantage of experiencing many of them while I'm here. And I need to remember to eat at the Waffle House on Queensway. Waffles covered with Nutella and Belgium chocolate? Can you say heaven? Seriously.

It's kind of fun learning to be on my own and doing things myself. I'm realizing that there are things I'm capable of doing, I just have to be brave and try them out.

Finals

Finals are here. Luckily, I'm almost done! Just one more tomorrow, for my French 201 class. I'm dreading it! I love the French language, but all of the tenses (passé composé, imparfait, futur simple, futur antérieur, subjonctif, etc.) are driving me nuts! I know I'm an English major and you'd think I should be able to remember what all the tenses mean, but I most definitely don't. Oh well. As of 2:00 tomorrow, I only have one more semester of French left!

I have my schedule set up for next semester, and it's going to be busy. I'm taking 16 credits, and hopefully I'll be working part time. I've decided to minor in Communications, so adding that list of classes to the ones I already will be taking is going to be tricky. But I've learned this year that as long as I'm doing what I should be, help comes through different sources. I really believe that Heavenly Father helps us out through other people. I have the most amazing family members and roommates and friends and they all do so much to give me strength to keep going, because I definitely feel like giving up sometimes!

I'm excited to go to London in a few days! I'm ready to have a few weeks just to myself, to learn and grow and have my own experiences. Getting there is going to be the scary part though. I'm not a big fan of flying!

General Conference Weekend!

This past weekend was General Conference, and I loved it. It's nice to have two days put aside to just listen and learn. I tried to get all my homework done and get enough sleep before, which was great. I sat in front of the TV and just let the words that were spoken flood over me! I love each of the General Authorities and the First Presidency. They are all such smart, focused, and well-educated men, and I feel like they're speaking directly to me. I feel like sometimes people think that because most of them are older, they are out of touch with what's going on in the world. I find this to be completely the opposite. In fact, I feel like they know more about what's going on than most of us do, which gives us an extra incentive to listen.

On Sunday morning I actually got to go to a session, which I've never done before. And what was more amazing was that out of the thousands of seats in the Conference Center, some good family friends from California were sitting right next to me! It wasn't planned at all, but I was so grateful because I haven't seen them in years.

So in all it was such a good, relaxing weekend, which I needed since finals start in a few days. And two weeks from now I'll be on a plane to London! Life is going by so fast. I'm starting to feel like if I don't keep up, it's going to leave me behind!
